Fun Music Facts

The Rolling Stones chose their band name from the Muddy Waters tune, "Rolling Stone". Early in their career, they made a trip to Chess Records, Water's label, and while they were walking in, Muddy was recording in the studio with a young Buddy Guy on bass guitar! The Stones were turned down by the Chess Bros. because they weren't black...however...

...a couple of years later Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was invited to record at the studio with none other than various members of Muddy's band, including Buddy Guy on bass, JB Lenoir , Otis Spann, and Honeyboy Edwards, possibly the last person to see Robert Johnson alive!

Peter Green idolized many blues guitar players, especially his favorite, BB King, and when he met him, he was said to be very nervous, and even scared to play in front of him. A few years later King was quoted, "Peter Green is one of the few guitar players who can really give me the chills!"

When Peter Green decided to take a break from professional music, he gave his prized Gold-top Les Paul to Gary Moore, who has used it on many of his recordings, including his tribute to his friend, "Blues For Greeny".

BB King's famous guitar, Lucille was not named after a woman he ever loved. It was actually named after a woman two men were fighting over at a house party King was playing. When the two men knocked over a burning barrel of kerosene, the entire place caught fire, everyone ran out, and the only piece of equipment that King could save from the fire was his guitar, which he named after the woman who caused the men to fight, Lucille.

Hound Dog Taylor had a non-functioning 6th finger (or an extra pinky) on his left (fretting) hand. He was one of Chicago's finest slide guitarists, and was buried in an unmarked grave in Chicago until just a few years ago....when he received a plot marker....thanks to Killer Blues!

The Killer owns a book filled with hundreds of his Killer Blues business cards, which have each been signed by a famous blues artist!
